On 07 February 2014, the BSV (Buddhist Society of Victoria) signed a contract to purchase property for a Forest Monastery for Monks and Nuns, 1 hour from Melbourne CBD between Trentham and Blackwood, backing onto State Forest. Nuns from Sanghamittarama intend to move from Bentleigh East to the Forest Monastery on 07 September 2014, this being the settlement date on Lot 3 of the property.

Venerable Sucinta Bhikkhuni, now departed and based at Anenja Vihara in Germany, served as founding Abbess when Sanghamittārāma opened in 2007. She came to Australia by invitation from the Buddhist Society of Victoria to explore establishing a monastery for Bhikkhunis in the Theravada tradition. Venerable Sucinta Bhikkhuni was born in Germany and began monastic life as an anagarika at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery in England. In 1998 she received Bhikkhuni Ordination in Bodhgaya, India.
The senior Nun at Sanghamittārāma is now Venerable Upekkha.
