the Blessed one allowed eating meat for monks, if it is clear that the animal was not killed on purpose, especially to provide the meal. but thing is, nowadays, no body kills animals ever in order to provide a meal. what we all do though, is supply an on-going demand and support for the meat industry, wether we like it or not. imagine, for example, if all the ordained monks, or even the full Buddhist community, will follow vegetarianism, there would be simply much less killing of animals. wether this consideration will haunt anyone at his death bed, leading to unfortunate rebirth? I don't know.

most people , anyway, consider ignorance a blessing.
