Bhikkhu Samahita
Bhikkhu Samahita (1960-2019) was a Theravada monk from Denmark. He was a Medical Doctor and an Associate Professor, before ordaining as a bhikkhu. He lived in a remote hermitage in Sri Lanka for many years and was a bhikkhu of the Theravada Forest Tradition - Arannavasin.
He arrived in Sri Lanka 2001, was ordained as novice at Maharagama Bhikkhu Training Center 29th January 2002 by the late Ven. Madihe Paññasiha Mahanayaka Thera and fully ordained as Bhikkhu the same place the 5th July 2003 by Ven. Ñāna Ratana Mahanayaka Thera. He practiced mostly alone in a remote mountain forest hermitage in Bambarella, near Hulu Ganga, Panwila ~ 56km from Kandy.
He operated several online groups for spreading the teachings of the Dhamma and maintained a website with a wealth of material on the Dhamma by other members of the Theravada Sangha. Unfortunately, his website went down shortly after his passing, however, his many youtube videos are still up, since they are hosted directly by youtube / google.
He was a regular contributor to Dhamma Wheel, the discussion forum for the early teachings of Buddhism and Dhamma Wiki.
He moved back to Denmark in 2018 with the intention of starting a Buddhist monastery and temple there. He passed away in October 2019 in Denmark.
