The Dhamma Encyclopedia is an effort to make Buddhist concepts and information available to anyone.
The official encyclopedia of The Dhamma website, a Buddhist encyclopedia. All traditions are welcome, but this encyclopedia primarily focuses on the foundation teachings of early Buddhism, i.e., Theravada.
Milestones
- October 1, 2008: Dr. David N. Snyder established The Dhamma Encyclopedia.
- November 2008: Over 1,000 articles
- December 2008: Over 2,000 articles
- December 2008: The Dhamma Encyclopedia becomes the largest and most visited Theravada Buddhist encyclopedia.
- January 2009: Over 3,000 articles
- January 2009: Dhamma Wheel is launched, a Theravada based online forum for discussing the Dhamma, including the discussion of The Dhamma Encyclopedia and acquires more than 100 members and 2,000 posts in the first two weeks.
- January 2009: Over 4,000 articles
- January 2009: The Dhamma Encyclopedia becomes the largest Buddhist encyclopedia from any tradition.
- January 2009: Over 5,000 articles
- February 2009: Over 100,000 page views (in the first 5 months of The Dhamma Encyclopedia).
- March 2009: Dhamma Wheel, the online Theravada Buddhist forum and discussion for The Dhamma Encyclopedia reaches over 10,000 posts.
- July 2009: Over 6,000 articles
- July 2009: Over 7,000 articles
- October 2009: First anniversary of The Dhamma Encyclopedia and over 400,000 page views in the first year (average of 1,100 page views per day).
